Rose petals in the shape of a heart on a bed

Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching and we can’t wait to pamper our guests on the most romantic weekend of the year.  We enjoy these special event weekends because it gives us a chance to come up with theme menus and change our routine a little.   Not to mention that this particular weekend gives us an excuse to eat chocolate, in the interest of quality control of course.

When I think of food for Valentines, I immediately think of the color red, heart shapes, and chocolate.   So we’re going to have plenty of things that fit all three of those categories this weekend.

Here’s a sneak peek preview of the menu I’ve planned so far for Saturday dinner.    Of course, being a Gemini, I reserve the right to change my mind on any or all of these items between now and then, particularly if something fun strikes my fancy when I shop for supplies later this week  🙂

White Winter Vegetable Soup garnished with Slivered Roasted Beets

Spinach Salad with Strawberries, Blueberries, Candied Pecans, and goat cheese, with a Cranberry Pomegranate Dressing

Choice of:
Eye of Round Beef with Bearnaise Sauce
Atlantic Salmon with a Honey Glaze, Black Sesame Seeds, and Teriyaki Sauce
Cheese Stuffed Pasta Shells with Marinara Sauce
Neapolitan Potatoes
Roast Asparagus with Cherry Tomatoes and Portobello Mushrooms

Chocolate and Hearts Dessert Trio – Chocolate Bavarian in a Chocolate Shell, Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, and a Shortbread Heart

Hoping everyone has a delightful weekend, and to quote the song by Stephen Stills, “If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with.”
