Everything You Need to Know About the Bridge of Dreams

About the Bridge of Dreams

Although there are plenty of impressive bridges in Ohio, the Bridge of Dreams happens to be the second-longest covered bridge in the state and the third-longest in the nation. This particular covered bridge has an intriguing story behind it as well.

The Pennsylvania Railway was built and used in the 1920s to connect the cities of Cleveland, Akron, and Columbus. Decades later, the railway was no longer in use, and town locals had a new idea: create a covered pedestrian bridge. Many were skeptical when residents first proposed the idea, but they were determined to accomplish the task. With the help of Amish artisans and local volunteers, the covered bridge was completed in 1998 and named the Bridge of Dreams.

Today, the 370-foot bridge remains built on top of the original steel railroad beams over the flowing Mohican River. It has remained a symbol in the community and a reminder that anything is possible.

How to Reach the Bridge

Visitors can find the bridge within the beautiful Mohican River Valley. It sits on the 4.5-mile Mohican Valley Trail that runs between Danville and Brinkhaven, connecting the two towns. It also connects the Kokosing Gap Trail with the Holmes County Trail, two popular hiking paths in the area.

It can be found at 16606 Hunter Rd., Brinkhaven, OH, 43006. Travel toward Brinkhaven on State Route 62 and find Hunter Road on your right after crossing the Mohican River. You’ll get a lovely view of the bridge from here!

Parking is also available under the bridge at the trailhead.
