Day One: Danville and the Bridge of Dreams
Start your weekend in Ohio the right way with breakfast here at The White Oak Inn! From there, take a relaxing scenic drive into Danville along the Amish Country Byway. This short route passes peaceful farmland and offers a nice look at the area’s rural charm. Spend some time exploring local shops in Danville before stopping at one of the town’s local restaurants for lunch. Later, you can ride out to Brinkhaven to see the Bridge of Dreams, a 370-foot covered bridge that stands as one of the area’s most unique attractions.
Day Two: Honey Run Waterfall and Gambier
Begin day two at Honey Run Park and its nearby waterfall. Take a short walk to this 25-foot waterfall and while trekking through the surrounding trails. Afterward, drive to Gambier for lunch and a walk around the Brown Family Environmental Center on the Kenyon College campus for some birdwatching. Art lovers can also visit The Gund, a free museum featuring rotating exhibitions. Wrap up the day by going to see the historic locomotive and caboose located along the Kokosing Gap Trail.
Day Three: Discover Downtown Mount Vernon
Spend the final day in the nearby Downtown Mount Vernon and grab a coffee before browsing the city’s shops and galleries. This highly walkable area also features many historic streets and antique architecture. Head to South Main Plaza to see the town’s iconic Dog Fountain for some cute pictures along the way. You can also visit the Knox County Historical Museum to learn more about the area’s past. Complete your afternoon with dinner at one of Mount Vernon’s local restaurants before returning to the inn.
